With the aim of “A Green today a Greener Tomorrow, Plant Today Survive Tomorrow” students of NSB School of Business, New Delhi pledged for a green and clean city on the occasion on 29 September 2010. The tree plantation event was coordinated by Innovators, the social sensitivity cell at NSB. Ms. Rita Sachdev, Director, NSB School of Business graced the occasion as the chief guest along with Mr. Sandeep Sharma, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Relations and Mr. Nikhil Kulshrestha, Dean Academics.

Ms. Rita Sachem, Director, NSB School of Business reminded everyone present during the occasion about the pledge the institute had taken towards environmental development and the progress that it has been making. She encouraged the students and the faculty to contribute towards this social cause by participating in the sapling plantation drive.

Students along with the Faculty and Staff of the institute gathered together near the "green belt of the institute” to plant the tree saplings.

The initiative turned out to be well executed and a huge success as tree saplings was planted. Altogether, everybody at the prestigious management institute celebrated the day joyfully by contributing to the environment by planting trees.

PRAYAAS

Prayaas is an initiative taken by the students of NSB for their fellow students so that they can work towards their overall development and prepare themselves for the corporate world. The main motive of Prayaas is to strive for excellence. The idea of forming such an informal group is highly appreciated by Ms. Rita Sachdev, Director NSB – NIILM School of Business and is equally supported and guided by Mr. Nikhil Kulshrestha, Dean – Academics.

Towards the attainment of the objectives laid by this team, first step was taken on 9^thSeptember 2010 with the launch of the group which was followed by a Guest Lecture Session. The program began with prayers made to Goddess Saraswati by lightening of the lamp. Ms. Rita Sachdev, Director; Prof. Sandeep Sharma, Sr. VP Marketing and Mr. Nikhil Kulshrestha, Dean – Academics launched Prayaas by unveiling the logo – Bird of Prayaas. The lecture session witnessed highly motivating words delivered by Mr. Saurabh Kapoor, Training Head, Samsung India Pvt. Ltd. on the topic “Corporate Mantras”. He enlightened the students as to “How to Manage Ourselves’, “How to Manage Other Persons” and “How to Manage our Personal Lives” while working in the corporate world. His lecture was attended not only by the students but by the staff members as well.

Towards the end of the session, Dean appreciated the efforts of the team and encouraged students to take part in more of such kind of activities that aid them in their development process. The event ended with a vote of thanks to the guest of honour, dean, director, faculty members and students.

With the success of the first event of the group, the team is highly motivated and has promised that it will come up with some other events which will help the students in their career.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

To create awareness among students about blood donation, Blood Donation Camp for - A Noble Service" was organized by the students of NSB college of Business. The Blood Donation Camp was organised by SCOPE an initiative of CSR in association with the Rotary Club, Faridabad Industrial Town at the college campus on 11^th

September 2010

The unit was inaugurated by Ms. Rita Sachdev, Director ,NSB School of Business in the presence of Mr. Sandeep Sharma, Senior Vice President Marketing and Corporate Relations, Mr. Nikhil Kulshrestha, Dean Academics and the Rotary Club officials.

The camp was conducted under the supervision of Medical Officer and the doctor’s team of the Rotary Blood Bank. Over 70 volunteers were registered for the camp. A total of more than 60 units of blood were donated by students and employees of the college.

TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATED WITH FUN AND REVERENCE AT NSB SCHOOLOF BUSINESS, NEW DELHI

Teacher’s day, in honour of former President of India, Late Dr. Sarvapalli Radhkrishnan, a teacher and philosopher par excellence, was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at NSB SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, NEW DELHI on 4th September 2010, 5th September, the actual teacher’s day, being Sunday.

Celebration started with lighting of Goddess Saraswati lamp by Mr. Sandeep Sharma, Senior Vice President Marketing and Corporate Relations, Mr. Nikhil Kulshrestha, Dean Academics and by Professors in charge followed by an enchanting Saraswati vandana.

Ms. Rita Sachdev, Director, NSB School of Business blessed the gathering.

Mr. Nikhil Kulshrestha, Dean Academics in his address to teachers and students, eulogised the ideals and general philosophy of life of Dr S Radhakrishanan and conveyed his best wishes to all. Mr. Sandeep Sharma, Senior Vice President Marketing and Corporate Relations in his address stressed upon teachers community to work hard for uplift and development of the nation.
To celebrate the auspicious day students of NSB performed various cultural events.
The heart stirring dance performances by the students along with rendering of variety of commendable songs was loudly cheered by the audience.
The games session, in which all male faculty and NSB staff present participated, started with balloon blowing. One who could blow maximum number of balloons in one minute was to be declared winner. The next game was the tie knot game for female faculty and staff. Both games were of real fun and students cheered all the participants loudly.
The celebrations ended on memorable note with students paying their obeisance to faculty and honouring them with token gifts.
This annual event has become the hallmark of teacher –student affinity at NSB.

Counseling Session at K.L. Mehta Dayanand College, Faridabad

With the initiative and guidance of Ms. Rita Sachdev, Director NSB – NIILM School of Business, on 28th August 2010, a gratis counseling session was organized at K.L. Mehta Dayanand College, Faridabad on “Confidence Building and Overcoming Shyness”. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Nikhil Kulshrestha, Dean Academics, NSB – NIILM School of Business. His oration was attended by more than 300 girls of the college. The session began with a briefing on the SWOTT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats and Trends) analysis of individuals and was followed by management games. Real life examples quoted during the epoch of the session helped the students in understanding the complexity of the various situations and has simultaneously influenced them to come out of the bondages of unconfident nature and to do some thing great to themselves. The motivation and charm of the lecture was apparent from the response set of the audience. Last stage of the session was confidence test which filled enthusiasm not only among the students but the staff of the college as well. The words articulated were strong enough in their approach that they influenced even the first year students to utter their view points in front of the august gathering. Such gesture of the students surprised even their faculty members. Cent percent positive feedback was received from the students after the session was concluded. After experiencing the constructive outcome of the session, management of K.L. Mehta Dayanand College has shown their craving for more of such motivating sessions to be conducted in their campus by NSB.

Talent Show organized by Cultural Cell of NSB

On 14th August 2010 NSB’s cultural cell organized its ‘Talent cum cultural show’. This bi-annual event, choreographed & performed by the new July 2010 batch is held to enable new entrants to NSB family to showcase their talents in items ranging from poetry to solo & group dance.

Participation was in huge numbers and the latent talents were unveiled giving contestants ample platform in the form of this show.

The event was anchored very efficiently by the comperes Rajeev, Manisha and Geeta (July 2010 batch).

The curtain raiser was a solo dance performance by a student from the new batch followed by singing, poetry and group dance. The mesmerized audience loudly applauded the participants for their exclusive performances.

Judging the performances, being yet another crucial task, went in the hands of our expert panel of judges consisting of Prof Mahendra Srivastava and Prof V.K.Dhawan. The event concluded with prize distribution to winners. Words of encouragement were expressed by Dean (Academics) Nikhil Kulshrestha, Senior Vice President (Marketing) Sandeep Sharma and General Manager (Marketing) Ashim Gupta.

NSB School of Business, an MBA institute in New Delhi had the Orientation Ceremony for the Batch of PGPBM 2010-2012 on 19th of July 2010 at the its campus. Orientation programme started with the lighting of lamp by Mr. Sandeep Sharma, VP, Marketing, Mr. Nikhil Kulshrestha, Dean Academics along with the eminent professors of the institution.

The day was filled with anticipation as the eager new students heard to speeches made by , Mr. Nikhil Kulshrestha, Dean Academics, Mr. Sandeep Sharma, VP, Marketing, Prof. V.K.Dhawan and Prof. K.L.Sehgal who underlined the ideals of being a part of the NSB fraternity. They also outlined a career path for the students enabling them to realize how important the next two years would be to each of them.Ms. Rita Sachdev , Director NSB School of Business in her address to the new batch highlighted the importance of education and leadership in today’s competitive world.

As the speakers oriented the students on NSB and their future with NSB, the aura at the venue was filling with pride and pleasure The program was followed by some snacks organized for them.

This MBA institute has commenced its orientation programme popularly known as PLAN (pre launch activities at NSB) for the July batch 2010-2012. The event is being conducted at its campus. PLAN will last for a till 29th July 2010 which will include the introduction of students along with some guidelines on industry trends and future prospects

PLAN has been incorporated keeping in mind the current market scenario i.e, to develop an enhanced personality which is the need of the hour in order to face this competitive and challenging world. The activities will tackle the areas where a fresher is lacking in order to meet the expectations of the industry. PLAN intends to create a platform for the students of NSB who wish to make a mark in the corporate world.

During the programme, the basic inputs will be given to them on the subjects such as IT, Creative thinking, Case Study methods, etc as a means to gain insight into analyzing, problem solving and managerial decision making.

PLAN will also include special personality enhancement sessions which will inculcate the inputs of leadership, flexibility and communication skills in order to make a first favourable impression on the employers.

NSB School of Business with the collaboration of NEN organized a guest lecture for the new batch so that for the new budding entrepreneurs can be guided with d the right knowledge, and skills.

Learning from various mediums of expressions has been an integral part of education at NSB With this understanding, Movie Club of NSB screened the movie “ Ek Ruka Hua Faisla”for the new batch with aim of encouraging students to develop a different perception regarding the films. The film was about group dynamics, decision making, self motivation and leadership.

PLAN will end with a Talent Hunt programme where the fresher’s will get a common platform to display their talent in various areas.

Students participated in the programme with overwhelming enthusiasm and came up with very innovative ideas during the exercises. Mr. Bajaj explained the concept of innovations in marketing and related issues in a very simple but effective manner, which was appreciated by the students. A film was shown which highlighting the views of the different innovative methods being by the industry today to reach the target audience. Mr. Bajaj also explained the concept of Consumer Marketing. In the workshop the students were divided in five groups. The groups vied with each other in bringing forth new ideas and their interaction with the faculty was very lively. Mr. Bajaj appreciated the creativity displayed up by the students during interaction.
